About Me
I established Tikkun Yoga Centre in 1996. I have been practicing yoga since 1979, and am a certified yoga teacher. I continue to study with many teachers of various traditions. My first teacher was Sandra Sammartino who I met in 1968 and began to learn from informally for many years before I formally studied under her receiving my certification in 1994. I also received a teacher training certificate from Erich Schiffmann. I sponsored a weekend seminar with Erich to Vancouver in 2003 and produced a recording of the seminar. I produced a restorative Yoga DVD in 2006, Restorative Yoga: Healing Through Breath and Movement which was the top selling DVD at Banyan Books and Demspey Distribution for many years. I have also taught many restorative yoga teacher training courses through my center, other people's centers such as Semperviva Yoga. I also have studied yoga nidra and meditation with with Swami Janakanda. I brought Swami to Vancouver for a weekend seminar. I have been exploring the relationship between yoga and Judaism and incorporate this theme in much of my teaching. I teach small classes in a home based boutique studio and have built a community of students that continue to study with me. I also have been teaching a weekly yoga class to judges at the Supreme and Appeal Courts of British Columbia since 2003. I currently teach restorative yoga, hatha yoga, partner yoga, pranayama and and meditation techniques. I emphasize breath to movement, correct body alignment and attention to individual needs. The result of this work is not only the stretching and strenghthening the physical body, but in uniting the body, mind and spirit.
