At Yoga Chelsea we aim to create the perfect yoga class, training or retreat just for you!​ Our philosophy is "one size does not fit all". Whether your goal is to begin a yoga practice or deepen an already established practice, Yoga Chelsea will help you build a strong foundation.

We offer:

Calm Kids Yoga Teacher Training: Yoga Chelsea offers a hands-on and practical yoga teacher training certification program. This certification is designed for Early Childhood Educators (ECE), Elementary School Teachers and other Early years Professionals.

Group classes and private one-on-one yoga: Yoga Chelsea specializes in gentle yoga, yoga for pelvic health, restorative and yoga Nidra.

Course Outline

Yoga Chelsea - Calm Kids Yoga Certification – Level 1
• This training will be run over a weekend.
• Friday 6-9pm
• Saturday 9-5pm
• Sunday 10-4pm
• Home Study Assignments: to be completed within one month of taking the weekend training for certification of Level 1.

This 20-hour certification program is specifically designed for Early Childhood Educators (ECE’s), Elementary School Teachers and professions working directly with children in the early years sector.

Teaching Methodology
• Demonstration and participation is central to this training.
• Lecture, discussions, handouts, team collaboration and active learning techniques for adult learners will be used.
• Asana, meditation and pranayama practice will be integral to the program.
• Guiding Children’s behaviour: tips and tricks for group management and fun.
• Games, songs, equipment, props and toys will be used to highlight play and fun within the yoga experience.
• Practice Teaching: Sample classes created and demonstrated by participants. Peer critiquing, support and shared learning opportunity.

Anatomy & Physiology
Lectures, discussion and shared learning:
• Foundations in Child Development (2-8 years); lecture, PowerPoint presentations and handout resources.
• Ages & Stages – preschool and the early years
• Safety and contraindications for yoga with children

Philosophy
Lectures, discussion and shared learning:
• Intro to Children’s Yoga: Required reading and book report (homework assignment)
• Introduction to 8 limb path – Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras
• Storytelling with children – incorporating ethics and healthy living.
• Songs and music used to highlight ethical, positive right action.
• Art and journaling to explore self-reflection and personal discovery.

Lifestyle, Ethics, Karma Yoga and
Business
• Future Planning – developing an action plan. Bringing yoga into your classroom.
• Self-Care: What does that look like for you? Self-reflection. (homework assignment)
